“Your direction, not your intention, determines your destination.” –Andy Stanley
True!
Here is an example:
You may have the intention of painting the walls in your kitchen. However, without the direction of prying the lid off the paint can and actually painting the walls, all you really have is a garage full of paint cans.
In other words, you’ve spent the money and still haven’t seen a change. I don’t know about you, but that is wildly frustrating. One of the reasons that’s frustrating to me is because I’ve been there, done that, and have the t-shirt to prove it.
So what is it that you are intending to do, but haven’t done yet?
It may be rather benign, like the intention of saving extra for a rainy day fund. Or, it could be more time sensitive, like the intention of setting some serious work/life boundaries.
For me, I will not willing to move from intention to direction until I have a preferred destination in clear view. I’m bet you are the same. Now you have some handles as to why.
